Pink Slip (Roadworthy Certificate)

• Registering a vehicle for the first time in NSW
• Your vehicle registration has expired for more than 3 months
• You're transferring registration to a new owner
• Your vehicle has been written off and repaired

A licensed mechanic or service station inspects your vehicle and issues the pink slip if it meets safety standards. It's valid for 12 months from the date of issue.

Blue Slip (Safety Inspection Report)

A blue slip is a safety inspection report used when:

• You've modified or repaired your vehicle significantly
• You need to check if modifications comply with Australian Design Rules
• Your vehicle has been damaged and repaired

A blue slip certifies that modifications or repairs meet safety standards. It's required before you can register a modified vehicle.

Key Differences

• Pink slip: General roadworthiness for all vehicles
